Mariachi Los Coyotes

Mariachi Los Coyotes in Mexico City (originally from Zapotíltic, Jalisco) circa 1952: From left to right Jesús Calvario (trumpet), José Meza (violin), Jose - (violin), Enrique Meza (violin), Gregorio - (arpa), Gabriel Arias (guitarrón), Adolfo Arias (vihuela), Epimenio Olmedo (guitar).

(If anyone out there knows the last name of Gregorio the harp player, please e-mail me this information at maracumbe@aol.com)

Los Coyotes had much the same regional style as Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlán, hailing from the neighboring town of Zapotíltic, yet their arrangements were their own. Listen to their version of "El Cuatro" as a point of comparision.
