Abundio Morales, born in Tizapán el Alto, Jalisco on July 11, 1901. Son of the harper Segundino Morales (padre), and brother to Segundino Morales (hijo), who played guitar and sang with him. Frustrated with the local harp makers, Abundio encouraged his son Roberto to make harps, advising him of the shortcomings of other harps. With Abundio's feedback, Roberto was able to refine and improve the Jalisco harp, and make some of the finest harps ever.
