Jesús Villa Salas was born in Cojumatlán, Michoacan in 1909. There he learned to play harp and then moved to Guadalajara. He joined Mariachi Virgen and later Mariachi México de Pepe Villa. Eventually he returned to Michoacán, settling in Jiquilpan, where he would play in the town parks and gardens. Dr. Álvaro Ochoa Serrano recorded him before he passed away and through the College of Michoacán produced this recording: link
